General Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

The main difference is of course Day Care At Home is done at the comfort of the client’s own home.

Typically Day Care Centers caters for either half day or full day – this is to also provide respite for the caregivers or as an alternative caregiving option to families who do not have a daytime caregiver.

As for Day Care At Home, our main objective is to provide activities that are typically done at a Day Care Center, but at the client’s own home, with the objective of providing cognitive stimulating activities, physical exercises and socialization with our staff(s). This will be suitable for seniors that feel reluctant to go to a Day Care Center due to various reasons, but at the same time has no purposeful activities done at home – mainly due to mobility issues.

It can range from 2 to 8 hours. Typically activities are carried out in blocks of 2 hours. For seniors who require more than 2 hours due to no available daytime caregiver or providing respite for the caregiver, the other extra hours might include home personal care needs for eg. Toileting, showering, feeding or supervised eating and companionship.

The fees will differ according to how many hours are required. Please contact us for more info.

All our staff conducting Day Care At Home must have:

  1. Certification in Therapy Support or Community Care Associate by institutions in Singapore.
  2. More than 5 years of experience working in a Day Care or Day Rehabilitation setting.
  3. Ability to communicate effectively with seniors eg. Able to speak local dialects/language.
  4. Ability to assist various types of seniors with different types of mobility issues eg. To assist in transferring seniors from wheelchair to bed, to assist with seniors who walk with walking aids etc.
  5. CPR+ AED certification.

Yes. Before a senior starts with Day Care At Home, an assessment will be conducted by either a licensed physiotherapist or occupational therapist at the senior’s home. From the assessment, the therapist will identify what are the needs require by the senior. For example, if from the assessment it is found that senior has very weak lower limbs and unable to stand properly or balance, Physiotherapy At Home will be suggested to carry out active rehabilitation. The therapist who assess the senior will also determine the frequency required to achieve a certain goals set by both the therapist and seniors/family members. And at the same time, from the assessment, senior will also benefit from Day Care At Home, this will also be suggested by the assessing therapist.

The activities are designed differently for every senior according to the assessment done. The activities will target areas that the senior needs improvement in – in these 2 categories: physical and cognition.

Our staff will also design activities that are purposeful for each individual senior depending on their hobbies or any activities that interest the senior.

What Our

Customer Say

Ms. JL, Toa Payoh (2016 - 2022)

Esther was more than just a physiotherapist. She was a source of comfort, creativity, and genuine kindness. Eash physiotherapy session was more than just a job, it was a carefully planned and thoughtfully administered time of care for my late mom. Over six years, Esther journeyed patiently with my late mum, helping her rebuild her cognitive and physical abilities after a massive stroke that left her immobile except on her mum’s cognitive skills and strengthen her muscles, from ball exercises to leg-kicking routines to help her movement and coordination. What always touched me was how Esther has brought joy and imagination into every session. Using simple tools like ice cream sticks, giant Lego blocks, a fishing game, colour pencils, and even eggs, she made each therapy session engaging and meaningful. I was deeply moved that even during her pregnancy, she continued to lift my late mum to stand up. An act that spoke volumes of her devotion and care. Though my late mum could no longer speak after the stroke, her eyes always sparkled with joy during those one-hour therapy sessions. She looked forward to each visit, and whenever the session ended, she often expressed her reluctance to see Ester leave, a beautiful sign of the bond they shared. Beyond the exercises, Esther often went the extra mile, gently massaging my mum’s tired neck as he suffered from left neglect due to the stroke. She also took the time to develop daily exercise schedule and patiently trained the live-in caregivers to continue the physiotherapy with my mum. Her compassion, dedication, and cheerful presence brought great comfort not only to my mum but also to our family. Our family remains deeply grateful for Esther’s faithful service and the love she poured into her work. We would highly recommend her services, for she is a physiotherapist who works with her heart as much as with her hands. My late mum was truly blessed to have her by her side.

Mr. T

Esther possesses the valuable but requisite ability to establish a rapport with the most challenging of elderly clients, be they of a cantankerous disposition for an abusive nature caused by illness. As a result, over time, many clients have been motivated to treat their physiotherapy as a highlight of their week, working harder to heal faster. Esther physiotherapy sessions and methods have been established from years of experience spanning clients of diverse social economic background and different stages of health. This diverse nature of her client base has persisted to this day, allowing Esther to continue to build upon and strengthen her methodology for the benefit of both clients and herself. Clients who have benefited immensely include nonagenarians, the nonverbal and those who had lacked the will or desire.
